Amanda DeBoer Bartlett – Vanitas, one-act opera by Salvatore Sciarrino.  National Pastime Theater, Chicago, IL.  September 11, 2012, 11:00 p.m..

A “Vanitas” is a still life, the subject of which is designed to instill in the viewer a contemplation of the emptiness of all worldly things, the fleeting nature of time, and the inevitability of death. Salvatore Sciarrino‘s chamber opera of the same name is a severely and devotedly didactic musical distillation of this.

This performance is a part of the Beethoven Festival: REVOLUTION 2012.
